History

The founder, Marcellin Bourdillon, hit upon the company name in 1974, taking the first letters of French words « COmmerce et Représentation pour l’Océan Indien » to create COROI.

Since then, COROI Maurice has been recognised as a leading distributor of chemicals and equipment.

Milestones

1974: Creation of COROI Maurice by Marcellin Bourdillon, in partnership with Mauritian stakeholders.
Coroi was mainly focused on the distribution of chemicals for the textile industry, then diversified in the agro-supplies.

1987: Incorporation of Bulk Bitumen Company Limited as a subsidiary of COROI.
It was sold to one of our clients operating in building and engineering works in 2008.

1989: Diversification in the Cleaning and Gardening equipment, COROI being appointed as the official distributor of KARCHER products.

1990: Additional capital was received from a new shareholder, the Constance Group (BMH).

1993: Diversification of our products range with the sales of professional kitchen and laundry equipment for the hospitality industry.

1995: Creation of Freeshore, offshore subsidiary specialised in the export of chemicals in the Indian Ocean. After 15 years of activities, it ended its operations in 2020.

2002: Centralisation of activities at Pailles in a site of 5250 m².

2008: Following years of development and growth, COROI became one of the leaders of imported agro-supplies for the local market.

2009: Launch of our pest control services under the commercial name PEST OFF!

2011: Opening of Coroi’s first Kärcher Center at Quatre-Bornes (Orbis Court, St Jean).

2016: Opening of a second Kärcher Center in the north at Lower Vale, M2 Motorway, Lower Vale.

2019: Extension of our gardening offer (Karcher & OleoMac) with the launching of Rover’s range of lawn mowers.

2021: Opening of the third Kärcher Center at COROI, Head Office Pailles.

2023: BMH becomes the sole shareholder of COROI Maurice Ltee.

2023-2024: Opening of our fourth Karcher Center at Floréal.

2024: Coroi is celebrating 50 years of growth and dedication to its clients’ success.
